“I approach painting as if a novelist drawing-up a visual narrative with characters, plot-idea and setting – the process led painting ends up as if a storyboard or complex diagram of different scaled and spatial parts. Consequent chapters in the painting are viewable at the same time mixing up ideas about beginnings and endings – or what part to read first. Time issues are central to this field of inquiry – the painted-field could be seen or read as an experiment in the temporal-nexus in which different events and characters collide – a process that is basically unfinalizable.”
